The fertile plains of the coast where they grow wheat, barley, olives, citrus fruits, cork, esparto and dates, and mountains covered by steppe of the interior gives way to a surprising landscape of the region chotts or sebkhas . The imaginary line between Gafsa and Gabes marks the beginning of the change of scenery. These vast expanses of salt water more or less dried and covered with salt, leave to turn south into the desert instead. The Chott el-Djerid is the largest in the country.
Tunis exceeds 1 million. The second largest city is Sfax, more than 250,000 inhabitants and a busy port. Sousse, Bizerte and Kairouan has nearly 100,000 inhabitants. Kairouan is a holy city in Tunisia.
It is well preserved in the national park: gazelles, Bufler, carnivores (hyenas, some panthers, jackals, foxes), otters, lynx, porcupines, mongoose, tortoises, birds (eagles, vultures).
In the mountains of Kroumirie between Bizerte and Tabarka, possibility to see wild cats and the Barbary deer.
The Gulf of Gabes is a nice place for its variety of birds.
And the camels in all this? There has not Tunisia, but only camels.

Olivier mainly north, date palms in the oases, Prickly pears are the preferred trees in Tunisia.
