Le parc du Serengeti, classé au patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco, tire son nom du massai Siringitu, lle lieu où la terre bouge pour toujours. La région du Serengeti est à cheval entre le Kenya et la Tanzanie. En Tanzanie, le serengueti est en grande partie couvert par le parc du Serengueti au nord, la réserve de chasse Maswa à l'ouest, et la réserve zone protégée du Ngorongoro à l'est, sans oublier les réserves de Loliondo, Grumeti et Lkorongo. Côté Kenya, le Maasai Mara National Reserve est frontalier du parc national du Serengueti. C'est l'une des zones touristiques les plus importantes de Tanzanie visitée par 100 000 touristes chaque année.
