Gorges du Verdon is one of the geological wonders of our old Europe. Carved by erosion of the river Verdon, Gorges du Verdon is the highest gorge in Europe, with a height reaching 700 meters in places. This canyon i> a length of 20 kilometers (large grooves) is the result of erosion in the limestone, it ends in Lake St. Croix. The Verdon River has its source at the Col d'Allos. Le Verdon, natural park
The regional park of Verdon founded in 1997 is shared between the departments of Var (south) and the Alpes de Hautes Provence (north) of 43 rural communes. Only at the beginning of the twentieth century the area was thoroughly explored and that the first date development even we can see some first fruits from the eighteenth century. 1st tourism development in 1906, the Touring Club of France (TCF) there traced a path to get to the gorge. To see in the Verdon strong>
On foot: The Styx - Verdon and Imbut are 2 famous places. The Styx is a very narrow passage; to Imbut, Verdon temporarily disappears underground.
- Several paths can visit the gorge: the Martel Trail, the trail of Imbut the Bastidon trail and lookout Rancoumas the bridge Tusset.
By car:
- bridge or bridge Artuby Chaulière. This bridge crosses the gorge Artuby. 110 meters long and a single arch, overlooking the Artuby nearly 180 meters .. a small bungee li>
