The Museum of Decorative Arts was originally the work of a patron, Ricardo do Espirito Santo Silva, a wealthy banker who bought (1947) and renovated the place, the palace Azurara, and decided to make a museum ( 1953) with his own private collection. At his death, Ricardo do Espirito Santo Silva bequeathed the museum to the city. It contains the tiles, old books and objects that belonged to the Portuguese navigators or reduced their explorations. Interesting also, you can witness the decoration of tiles and other materials by students of the school of traditional art found in the palace Azurara.
