It is located on the Heysel plateau, where many activities have grown since 1935. The Heysel plateau, besides the Atomium, hosts the convention center, sports fields, a cinema complex, a planetarium, restaurant.
Thanks to the Universal Exhibition of 1935 that the Heysel is developed.
